Together Tomorrow
Together Tomorrow explores the potential of citizen led community initiatives that challenge capitalist narratives of growth and envision a radically different way of organizing everyday life in cities. The exhibition hopes to be a good conversation starter to envision a future beyond individualism, self-interest and dominance over nature. A future where we can thrive by slowing down, engaging in motivating as well as mundane activities, bonding with others, and repairing and reutilizing urban space as a treasured artefact. In many ways, the local initiatives presented are taking matters into their own hands to combat today’s crises. While we acknowledge that these practices cannot change the world alone, they signify that we are not helpless, and they point to a different way of organising and valuing daily life. Guided by values such as sufficiency, care, conviviality, and creativity, not the push of economic growth and overproduction, the exhibited urban practices create meaningful relationships between people, places, and their wider communities. The appearance is influenced by the practice of the featured groups and conveys the do-it-yourself approach that encourages collaboration and collective action and the exhibition reuses material from old exhibitions.
